Once upon a time long ago there was an RG-8 MIL cable. The military and civil customer widely used it for various radio technical purposes. Meanwhile the frequency needs grew continuously and cost-efficiency considerations came to the first place. The developers created the new microcellular polyethylene dielectric which pushed the working frequency up to 6 GHz. Furthermore knowing the skin-effect, they also realized that it is sufficient if the center wire had only the surface of copper and the core could be stuffed even from aluminum.

The versatile RG-8 MIL cable

Due those considerations the final product became cheaper, which was started to call “modified RG-8” cable. In the last century it was called type C2FCP, later promoted as CINTA and the today’s name is a clean brand listed CNT. Since then another similar cable types are also added to the portfolio, here are today’s CNT size selection (the serial number is a thousand times the diameter of the jacket in inches):

CNT-100         outer diameter   2,79 mm
CNT-195         outer diameter   4,95 mm
CNT-200         outer diameter   5,08 mm
CNT-240         outer diameter   6,10 mm
CNT-300         outer diameter   7,62 mm
CNT-400         outer diameter 10,29 mm
CNT-500         outer diameter 12,70 mm
CNT-600         outer diameter 14,99 mm

We can also find other manufacturers on HPP, LMR and RF brands.

WHAT WE CAN USE FOR?

Connecting New Technologies

Microwave backhaul, E911, In-building, In-cabinet, Distributed antenna systems, Two-way land mobile, Mobile and satellite antennas, ITS Vehicle-to-vehicle communications, Wi-Fi, WiMax, LTE, 4G, Broadband, Unlicensed band

Built to Perform

  • Riser – in-building between floors and other non-plenum vertical applications
  • Plenum – in-building air handling plenums and difficult installation areas
  • Direct burial – exterior rated/underground feeder applications.
  • Fire Retardant – anywhere fire safety is critical, such as in-building vertical risers.

The European regulation requires vendors to have the CPR cable classification in place before July 1, 2017. The new Fire safety Classes such as B2ca, Cca, Dca, Eca and Fca – sets criteria’s and testing procedures to promote a more harmonized standard describing cable fire performance.

Andrew CNT braided cables are constructed from the highest quality copper, aluminum, and polyethylene materials for superb electrical and mechanical performance.

Andrew CNT cable solutions satisfy any application, indoors or outdoors, with robust outer jackets that shield them from abrasion and environmental damage.

Andrew CNT provides an ideal balance of performance, flexibility, and economy.

The possibilities are unlimited, just we need to know what application we are using for!
